The Lacrosse Portrait

A lacrosse portrait is my term for creating original art using a photo for reference. Good quality photos are an integral part of the successful rendering. However, as shown in the below portrait, artistic brushwork and washes substitute for photo detail to excite the imagination. Lacrosse portraits make a wonderful memory. Fees depend on size and media, and range from $450-$600.

This watercolor shows the smooth style of Middlebury All-American Michael Frissora (class of 2003) who played on three Middlebury national championship teams. The original watercolor art measured 16 x 20". The colors although muted are expressive as the color washes infuse a sense of action. Blues and grays contrast with subtle hints of magenta.
